Arnold W. Brecht was born 1896, in Minnesota Lake , Minnesota. He served in France during World War I. He graduated from the University of Minnesota School of Law in 1922. Shortly after completing law school, Arnold W. Brecht came to Worthington , Minnesota to join the law practice of Mr. John Flynn. By 1928, Arnold W. Brecht had partnered with Mr. Jack Cashel, but in 1929, he decided to practice law individually, and opened an office above the old Citizens' National Bank building (now known as “The Cow's Outside”) located at 326 10th Street, Worthington, MN. Arnold W. Brecht served as Nobles County Attorney from 1931 to 1947 and legal counsel for the local school board for numerous years. Additionally, Arnold W. Brecht served as President of the Worthington Hospital Board, President of the Worthington Chamber of Commerce from 1943 to 1945, President of the Worthington Kiwanis Club in 1938, and as Commander of the Calvin-Knuth Post No. 5 of the American Legion. Arnold W. Brecht was a life member of the Nobles County Historical Society, a member of the Knights of Columbus and a member of the Tau Kappa Epsilon fraternity.
